More about Juha Meuronen
He lives and works in Hämeenlinna. He is a second-generation artist; his father, Egon Meuronen, was also a painter.
His work is strongly inspired by Finnish Lapland, the Bothnian Bay, and dramatic changes in nature—especially first snow, ice breaking up in spring, storms, wind, and winter light. He uses mixed media and paints nature in an evocative rather than photographic way, transforming memories of landscapes into rhythmic fields of colour.
Useful points:
He exhibited his work publicly for the first time at age 12.
His first solo exhibition was in 1978 in Hämeenlinna.
He has exhibited extensively in Finland and abroad, including Stockholm.
His works are held in collections including the Hämeenlinna Art Museum, Kemi Art Museum, Turku Art Museum, and Finnish state collections.
